    Gompa Project

Tashi Choling Mahayana Buddhist Society of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, is part of the Gaden for the West organisation

In October 2001 Gaden for the West purchased 6.5 acres in Sproule Creek. This property includes a house, large vegetable and herb garden, creek and waterfall all surrounded by magnicent Douglas fir trees. The building of a Gompa has been a desire of the Society members since the Tashi Choling was established in 1980 as a non-profit society under the guidance of the Venerable Zasep Tulku Rinpoche, the society’s founding Lama (teacher).

The Gompa will become a  centre for teachers and practitioners to conduct seminars and retreats towards advancing the teachings of the Buddha Dharma.

Zasep Tulku Rinpoche is currently making long term plans to reduce the amount of travel he undertakes and wishes to spend more time in the Nelson area.  He is encouraging his students and Dharma friends from around the world to contribute towards the construction of the Gompa in the future.

We invite you to support this vision of a center for meditation and Tibetan Buddhist practice in the West Kootenay where these time honored traditions can be kept alive and in service to the human heart and spirit.
